Dog Gear Hub Editorial Team
Who we are
Dog Gear Hub is written by a small, independent editorial team. Every article on the site is published under the name "Dog Gear Hub Editorial Team" rather than under individual bylines. We cover dog gear, toys, enrichment and gifts, from walking and travel to winter gear and grooming. We don't publish invented names, photos, job titles or credentials, and we don't claim professional qualifications we don't have. We're not veterinarians or professional trainers. Our guides explain what to look for in dog gear and point to veterinary sources for health and safety questions; they're not veterinary advice. You can read more about the site on our About page.
How we research
We start from questions readers commonly ask and build each article from sources we can link to. Depending on the topic, these include veterinary and canine organisations such as the American Kennel Club (AKC), the ASPCA, VCA Animal Hospitals and the Merck Veterinary Manual for health and safety points, and manufacturers' own sizing guides and product pages. We use manufacturers' specifications and product pages to check sizing charts, materials and weight ranges, and where it helps we look at recurring patterns in public reader and customer reviews, such as common sizing or durability comments. We use AI writing tools to help with research and first drafts; every article is then reviewed and edited by the team, and facts are checked against the linked sources before it is published. Our Editorial Policy explains this process in more detail.
How we choose products
We don't run a testing lab, and we don't claim to have tested products hands-on unless an article clearly says so. Instead, our guides explain what to look for, and product links usually go to Amazon search results for a product type rather than to a single listing, so you can compare current options, prices and reviews yourself. When we suggest a type of product, we look at:
- Correct fit and sizing guidance for different dog sizes.
- Safety features such as reflective trim, secure buckles and durable materials.
- The gear suits the activity or season the article covers.
- Options across price points, with notes on when to ask your vet.
We don't accept payment to include a product, and brands don't review our articles before they are published.
How we keep articles up to date
We review articles periodically, and sooner when a source we rely on changes, for example when official guidance is updated or a product is discontinued. Each article shows an "Updated" date at the top; it changes when we make a meaningful edit to the content, not just when the page is rebuilt.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake or something out of date, please contact us with the page address and what looks wrong. We check every report, fix confirmed errors and update the article's date.
Affiliate links and ads
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through an Amazon link on Dog Gear Hub, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The site may also show ads. Neither affects which topics we cover or what we suggest. Details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
